Art Video Diary Part 8 – reflection base. The Thing With Feathers by Deborah Chapin

This a short clip simply because I used up my battery before I was able to do much video and this is just putting a base in for the reflection.    However you just missed the base foundation of the reflection and further layering of light layers in the background and working a little on the dress.  I have finally finished the first layer of painting and drawing of this piece.

Sometimes I feel that is the hardest part of the painting is to make all the decisions which creates the foundation of the piece.    From size of the piece and where it will hang and what the objective of the story of the piece will be to considering the composition, what you want to emphasize, the color scheme, the lighting, and the aesthetic.   It takes a lot of energy and painting for this type of piece.  It is a little different sustaining an enthusiasm energy level because it evolves in stages.   When I paint en plein air there is a different kind of drive and energy required to push through this stage and prepare for that moment of light and elements which you are looking to capture so regardless the concept of clearing the decks in your head to focus on this stage is very important.   At any rate, now begins the next phase of the piece starting back with the figure and gear up each part of the piece.  Once again you can catch up with all the previous videos at http://youtube.com/deborahchapin
